FIBRE is commissioned by INTERWOOLLABS to manage the international standards for the calibration of machines for fiber fineness measurements. These are specially selected wool tops whose fineness parameter values are well-known from different international comparison studies. These standards are managed at FIBRE and made available to interested laboratories upon request.

We carry out international comparison tests on behalf of INTERWOOLLABS twice a year. These tests not only determine parameter values but also serve as an inspection and authorization of 120 associated institutions. Because of its undisputed competency, FIBRE is a permanent member of the INTERWOOLLABS management committee. Only laboratories whose measurement results lie within the stipulated tolerances receive the INTERWOOLLABS seal.
