Manufacturing and joining processes for fiber-plastic composites and their hybrids
The Manufacturing Technology competence field researches manufacturing and joining processes for fiber-plastic composites and their hybrids. Through in-depth understanding of materials and processes, the two are optimally coordinated in order to increase process speed, reproducibility and robustness as well as resource efficiency. A particular focus here is on manufacturing processes for thermoplastic fiber-reinforced plastic composites (automated fiber placement, thermoforming) and corresponding joining technology such as welding (ultrasonic and resistance welding), overmolding by injection molding and inductive heating, e.g. for repairs. In the area of thermoset fiber-plastic composites, winding, pultrusion and liquid composite molding processes are considered. Comprehensive expertise is also available in the field of embroidery technologies for highly topology-optimized components. FIBRE thus covers important process chains from the fiber to the component.
