Measurement Systems and Monitoring

In the Competence field Measuring Systems and Monitoring (MM), measuring systems are developed in order to accompany processes from the fiber production over the semi-finished textile product to the component in order to ensure quality and to improve the understanding of materials. Thus, this field of competence forms an interface to the material and process-related fields of competence of FIBER.

The measurement systems work non-destructively, ranging from camera-based systems and laser triangulation for two- or three-dimensional surface inspection to computed tomography (CT) for examining the internal structure. For the evaluation of the measurement data individual methods and algorithms are developed.

Another focus is the integration of actuators and sensors as well as the analysis of the sensor data for process monitoring and structure monitoring. In particular, “smart” particles, optical fibers, ultrasound converters and miniaturized dielectric sensors are investigated as transducer system components. Both wired and wireless transmission techniques are used.
